Starting in downtown Manhattan, we will explore the origins of New York City by visiting an archaelogical dig  and learning a little about New York City's history and then we'll walk along the waterfront thru Battery Park and Battery Park City. After seeing the haunting American Merchant Marine Memorial and Castle Clinton, we will continue north along the esplanade in Battery Park City. We will visit the Winter Garden with its live palm trees  and we'll also see the beautiful small parks and memorials in Battery Park City such as “Tear Drop Park”, the “Irish Hunger Memorial” and the truly unique “The Real World” and its' amazing miniature sculptures. There are always suprises along the way.  This Tour will take approximately 2 hours to complete and is about 3 miles in length. For those who are more ambitious, this Tour can be combined with the West Village/High Line tour.
